neighborhood ministries

Neighborhood Ministries is a non-profit organization that provides support and household items for distressed families of urban Phoenix. Last night a fire destroyed a building that housed a whole year’s worth of their collected donations. Items such as cribs, clothing, toys, bedding and more are desperately needed to help provide for the hurting families this amazing organization serves. My friend Karis Murray, of Family Matters and Candid Motherhood is hosting a donation drive this Saturday, June 19th in Scottsdale. I’ll be sifting through my garage, linen closets, over-stuffed toy chests, cupboards, and dresser drawers… and I thought I’d call out to my friends and family to do the same. If you have items you’re willing to donate, please see the information below. Let’s link arms and help replenish their loss…

I’ll find out where we can take donations for those of us who don’t live in the Scottsdale area (Karis?) =)…

playing house

You can’t play house without a cute apron… and the one I have is only a little bit cute. So, Dear Mr. Bee, just think of all the neatly folded undershirts you would have if I had one of these…

over the rooftops

Insomnia does have some beautiful perks! A sunrise view from my office window…

…Just thought I’d wave a quick hello and let you know that we didn’t get lost in the woods. I’m trying to get back into the swing of things now that summertime is settling in around here. I don’t think I ever said anything out loud on my blog… so I’ll catch y’all up… the condensed version. My Mom’s surgery went well and her recovery is going better than expected. Those of you who have heard through the grapevine and have taken the time to write and call, Thanks So Much for all the well wishes and prayers. It will be a long year of healing and more surgeries that will hopefully allow her to walk again, and your support goes a long way. She’s now at a long term care facility that has (mostly) kind nurses and seems pretty clean. Her roomie’s name is Dixie… a sweet grandma that could use some extra love and more visitors. My mom needs that too… I don’t feel like I’m there nearly often enough… but it turns out that she’s been spending time on the other side of the dividing curtain, comforting and consoling her new friend, and it warms my heart because she’s been the helpless one for so long. She’s a young spring chicky in comparison. I didn’t feel very comfortable with the idea of her sharing a room at first, but it’s turned into the sweetest thing. Today I’ll take the kiddos with me and her old guitar… my plan is to start strumming off key (I’m naturally musically UNgifted) and hope she’s feeling well enough to take it from me and show us how it’s done. Grandma, Dixie, and the three Bees are gonna rock the house!

~Love & hugs~

skippin’ town

I’m reluctantly missing out on The Workshop this weekend, and we’re running for the hills. I know it’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to hear from my friends about how much they learned… while I was reading in a hammock. We’ll be one with nature for the next couple days with our ancient pop-up camper, two munchkins, and a couple labradoodles in tow. I’ll catch a crawdad for ya! (insert: Beverly Hillbillies Theme Song).

p.s. There are some emails I didn’t have a chance to answer before prying myself away from the computer to start preparing for the weekend… I’ll be back at it after Tuesday! For those of you with questions about weddings, albums, or portrait sessions, please feel free to contact the studio for an immediate response… Jenny, our beloved office manager, is our go-to-girl for all these topics and should wear a red cape for her many mad skills, including numchucks and quick and friendly communication. The last part is true. You will love her.
